The Extreme Hoops Summer Basketball Camp will run from June 14-18 at the Hardwood Palace in Rocklin. Boys from grades 1-8 will participate in the camp from 9 a.m. to noon while boys in grades 1-6 will go from 1-4 p.m. Girls from grades 4-9 will go from 1-4 p.m. The start times will be earlier on June 18. Grades are based on the 2010-11 school year. Former Rocklin High varsity boys basketball coach Steve Taylor is the camp director and the camp fee is $110. UCLA basketball player and Rocklin High graduate Brendan Lane and former NBA player Harold Pressley are expected to be guest speakers at the camp. Taylor is also working on getting NBA players Matt Barnes and Tyreke Evans and former NBA player Bobby Jackson to help with the camp. The camp is also expected to feature other college players and WNBA players as instructors. Taylor says the camp staff will continually emphasize the importance of teamwork, having a positive attitude, and the value of developing a solid work ethic. He says the camp will give each participant an opportunity to improve their individual skills while learning the fundamentals of basketball.
