Rocklin advances to semifinals with win over El Camino
With a 77-65 win over visiting El Camino Friday night, the Rocklin varsity boys basketball team advances to the semifinals of the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Division II Playoffs.
The Thunder hosted their second-consecutive home game after No.18 ranked El Camino defeated No.2 ranked St. Mary's Wednesday night.
Taylor Cherry led the Thunder with 19 points, shooting 4-for-6 in the second half. Moss successfully made eight-consecutive free throws to ice the game, finishing with 15 points.
After trailing by one point at the end of the first period, Rocklin outscored the Eagles 22-9 in the second.
After the break, El Camino's Dallen Eddenfield went on a scoring streak, draining a trio of treys in a four minute span. But the Thunder cut any momentum the Eagles gained with a10-0 run to end the third period.
Rocklin maintained their lead and will advance to play on Wednesday, Feb. 27, against either No.3 Antelope or No.6 Burbank.
After the game, Cherry spoke about his team's win and the road ahead.
“We like our chances a lot," said Cherry. “We got a good team; we're getting close to our goal.”
