In three-straight sets, the Rocklin varsity volleyball team defeated visiting Folsom Friday night.

Each of the night’s sets seemed to play out in similar patterns. Folsom would compete early but would fade toward the back end of each set.

Rocklin got hot often, breaking out in streaks of five-straight points or more on four occasions, including a 7-0 run to help seal the final set.

Ryan Cernik and Nick Dahla led the Thunder on the offensive attack. Each tallied nine kills apiece.

Justin Celira seemed to confuse the Folsom defense. He collected three-straight service aces in the second set.

Spencer Green emerged second on the team with five kills and finished with two aces.

“We played pretty well,” said Rocklin head coach John Kirk. “It’s been kind of up and down so far this year, so it was kind of nice to get on a roll.”
