The Rocklin All Stars suffered a hard-fought loss on Thursday, losing to Lincoln 8-6 in the District 11, Area 1 Majors? All Stars Tournament at Rocklin Little League. Rocklin came back from an early 3-0 deficit to capture the lead in the fourth inning. A strong third inning, led by Sam Portello?s solo home run, tied the game at three all. An inning later, Brooks McKeighan helped his team take a 4-3 lead blasting a solo home run. Lincoln had a grand opportunity to make up ground in the bottom of the fourth inning by putting runners on first and second with one out. But the Rocklin infield turned a classic double play to end the threat and get out of the inning. Rocklin was not as fortunate in the fifth allowing six hits and four runs to score. Lincoln?s strong offensive output brought about the third lead change of the game. However, McKeighan would not let his Rocklin club go silently. The slugger launched his second home run and cut the lead to 8-6. Unfortunately for Rocklin fans, their club would not score again as Lincoln went on to victory. With one loss, Rocklin now moves into the elimination bracket to play Auburn Friday at 7 p.m. The winner will play Lincoln on Saturday for the championship. Rocklin would have to beat Lincoln twice (Saturday and Sunday) to earn the Area 1 title.
