Rocklin girls advance in playoffs with win over Cougars

With a 59-40 win over visiting Del Campo Tuesday, the Rocklin girls basketball team opened the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Division II playoffs with an all-around victory.

Jordan Purvis shot well for the Thunder, draining a trio of treys in the first half and ending the night with 15 points. Lydia Summers scored 16 points to lead the Thunder.

After trailing at the end of the opening period, Rocklin shot 9-of-11 from the floor in the second to carry a 29-20 lead into the half.

The Thunder pulled away in the final period, after a contested third from the Cougars.

Rocklin will move on to play No. 2 seed McNair in Stockton. McNair defeated Kimball 67-35.
