The Rocklin High girls basketball team will roll into Whitney gymnasium Friday to take on the Wildcats. Game time is 7 p.m.

After a successful three-game sweep in Reno, Nev.’s Silver Slam Tournament, the Thunder come in with a 10-5 record. Whitney (6-10) is coming off a loss to Davis and would like nothing better than to upset their cross-town rivals.

In common preseason opponents, both clubs defeated Folsom. Rocklin won by 37, the Wildcats defeated the Bulldogs by 18.

The girls in blue are scoring more than 63 points a game and are just shy of 39 rebounds per contest. Whitney is averaging nearly 43 points a game while pulling down 26 rebounds.

Although the statistics would favor Rocklin, this is a rivalry – friendly – but a rivalry nonetheless.

The maroon-and-gold is led by sophomore Alanna Scott averaging 12 points a game; the Thunder are led by freshman Jordan Purvis, also tallying 12 points per outing. But look for seniors Lydia Summers, Shannon Garvella and Jaimie Curtis of Rocklin and Whitney seniors Kristin Ladas, Molly McConnell and Molly Miles to be the real difference in the game.

Come out and support your favorite Rocklin team!
