Rocklin High’s varsity girls tennis team closed its season 8-4 in Sierra Foothill League play. The Thunder lost 5-4 to league-power Del Oro in their finale Oct. 21. Rocklin senior Nathalie Dumm capped off her 17-2 season by winning 6-0, 6-1 at No. 4 singles while teammates Melinda Marion (No. 5) and Stefanie Studen (No. 6) also earned victories. Rocklin’s Amanda Bruns and Isabel Lopez teamed up for a 6-3, 6-4 victory in doubles as well. Rocklin topped Nevada Union 5-4 in a league match and beat Rodriguez 5-4 in a non-league match in the previous week. “The seniors were very special this year,” Rocklin coach Dale Eckenburg said. “Heather Davidson will go down as the greatest tennis player this school has had with Rachel Leung, Nathalie Dumm and Amanda Bruns dotting the record books with their great play.”
