The Rocklin High girls basketball team wrapped a great second half to their regular season with a win over Woodcreek 52-48, Thursday, for their fourth victory in a row. It also put an end to the jinx of close-game losses. That solid run landed the Thunder the No. 10 seed in the Sac-Joaquin Section Division II Playoffs set to begin Tuesday. Rocklin finished winning six of its last seven Sierra Foothill League games to end the season 7-3 in league and 16-11 overall. “I think we’re playing our best basketball of the season. We’re going to be a difficult match up for some teams,” said Rocklin head coach Rob Ferraro. “I don’t think the girls are ready for the season to end yet.” Junior Lydia Summers poured in 18 points against the Timberwolves while senior Joe Camalo contributed 15. Junior Shannon Garvella also found her stride and scored 14 for the girls in blue. The Thunder will travel to River City, West Sacramento, to face the No. 7 Raiders Tuesday, 7 p.m. River City is a solid club winning 25 of their 27 games and going 11-1 in the Sierra Valley Standings. The SVL is rated 5.4 in the power ratings, the SFL 6.6. For those wanting to attend the game, River City High School is located on Jefferson Boulevard off Business 80. Take the Jefferson Exit off I-80 to the stoplight. Turn left onto Jefferson Boulevard and follow it south to the high school, 1801 Jefferson Blvd. Attend the game and support the Rocklin Thunder.
