Rocklin High School receives Gold Medal ranking

U.S. News and World Report lists school one of top in state U.S. News and World Report has awarded the distinguished Gold Medal to Rocklin High School, recognizing Rocklin High as one of the top 100 high schools in California and also the top 500 high schools in the United States.  Criteria for the ranking was based on data gathered from public sources that included California state proficiency standards and College Board statistics, which determine how well-prepared Rocklin High students are for college. Rocklin High School is the only Placer County high school to receive a gold award and one of three in the Sacramento region. Rocklin High School Principal David Bills received the news in stride. ?The recognition from the U.S News & World Report, designating Rocklin High School as a Gold school is a tribute to the hard work of our students and staff,? Bills said. ?The entire community of Rocklin can be proud of this recognition, as it reflects the value we place on education. Every day I consider it a privilege to serve as Rocklin High School?s principal.? Rocklin High School Associated Student Body President Zach Dahla is equally proud of the prestigious award. ?I think it is evidence of the hard work that we students put into our learning,? Dahla said. ?It?s refreshing to see an award that also honors teachers who inspire kids to want to learn. Our high API scores reveal how students value knowledge at Rocklin High.?  Dahla, who will be attending U.C. Davis in the fall, expects the gold medal honor to be a goal for the student body next year. ?This U.S. News gold medal award will fuel our academic Thunder spirit for years to come,? Dahla explained. Rocklin High School students and staff are familiar with accolades. The school has earned a U.S. News and World Report silver award in previous years, but this is the first ever gold recognition. Rocklin High students have achieved the highest California state assessment scores in Placer County for the past few years.  Rocklin High was also recently recognized by the California Business for Education Excellence Honor Roll for academic achievement.  Rocklin High School students benefit from a school culture that fosters student success. Students study under a Mastery Learning system that incorporates teaching strategies from the California State Frameworks, UC and CSU admission requirements, and the California State Department of Education. Rocklin High School offers 18 Advanced Placement courses as well as honors and advance levels of Language Arts, Math, Foreign Language, Art, and Digital Art.
