Rocklin High senior finalist in National Merit Scholar competition

Ravi Sharma has been named a National Merit Semi-finalist. Sharma is one of approximately 16,000 students across the country who will now compete for the title National Merit Scholar. Sharma is a senior at Rocklin High School and was selected based on his 2010 PSAT score. He is an academic leader on the school campus and has also served as an officer in Rocklin High Key Club volunteering with various community projects and the American Cancer Society. Sharma has completed more than 200 hours of community service. He is active in Science Olympiad, California Scholarship Federation, National Honor Society and has lettered in Thunder Cross Country and Track. Sharma plans on applying to several top universities across the U.S. including Duke, University of Chicago, Stanford and UC Berkeley as a Bio-Chemistry major. He plans a career in medicine. His parents are Archana and Mithlesh Sharma of Rocklin. ~ Staff report
