Rocklin High singers accepted to All-State Honor Choir.

The American Choral Directors Association Honor Choir is a statewide program. In September, vocalists endure a rigorous live audition at their local sites and are informed of their acceptance at the regional level in October. Throughout the months of October and November, the singers are sent the music to learn and rehearse on their own.

This year’s Central California Honor Choir was held in Stockton at the University of the Pacific. The week before Thanksgiving, students from all over Central California – some as far away as Bakersfield and Redding – joined together for two and a half days of rehearsal, culminating in a performance for friends, family and music educators at UOP’s Faye Spanos Concert Hall.

Rocklin High was represented by four fine young vocalists, one of whom (Madi Crossland) was a featured soloist. The choir was recently informed that Gabe Catabran, Lillian Andrew and Bailey Walatka were accepted at the next level – the ACDA California All-State Honor Choir. These three will travel to San Jose in March and perform with some of the best high school singers from across the state.
