Rocklin High's Ryan Jones signs with Harvey Mudd College

Rocklin High senior Ryan Jones has committed to running cross country and track at Harvey Mudd College in Claremont. Jones, a versatile student-athlete, has bests of 49 seconds for his leg on the Thunders? 4x400 relay team and has posted a time of 4:26.26 for the mile. He and his Rocklin teammates were scheduled to participate in the California State Track and Field Meet this past Friday and Saturday. Jones was admitted to several of the top academic intuitions in the country but chose the small engineering school in Southern California. He will major in astrophysics. Jones credits his coaches at Rocklin High for his success in track and cross country. During his tenure with the Thunder, Jones has been named MVP three times, honored for sportsmanship, was Sierra Foothill League Champion, Sierra Foothill All League and holds five school records. He?s served as team captain and qualified twice for state competition. His relay team also earned a Sac-Joaquin Section championship. His parents are Julie and Lloyd Jones of Rocklin.
