VANCOUVER, Wash. _ The Utah Junior All Stars jumped out to an early seven-run lead and held off the Rocklin All Stars to earn a 16-13 victory and close out the Western Regional Tournament for both clubs. Southern California topped Hawaii 1-0 to win the tournament and advance the Juniors World Series in Michigan. Jason Cadell doubled in Randy Schab and Hayden Gibson to put Rocklin on the scoreboard and Blake Laurin followed with a two run double to drive in Will Floyd and Sean Sullivan. That narrowed Utah’s lead to 7-4. After Brandon Bibler and Floyd scored on singles from Matt Morgan and Laurin in the fourth inning, Utah came back with another four runs in the next two innings to go up 11-6. Rocklin errors helped contribute to the Cedar City, Utah rally. Much of the defense was supplied by Sullivan, Floyd, Schab, Mike Shoenberger, Jerad Cadell, Wyatt Walsh, Gibson, Bibler, and Jason Palmer. Rocklin garnered a 12-3 record in postseason play with 128 runs batted in and 68 stolen bases. They outscored opponents 167-68 in winning District 11, Section 4, and Division II championships.
