Two young baseball players from Rocklin and Lincoln are playing on the Citrus Heights travel team MVP 9U and have been putting up some impressive numbers individually and as part of the team. Rocklin?s TJ McCuistion and Lincoln?s Zach Chamizo are playing for Got ?Em Baseball?s 9-and-under baseball team in Citrus Heights this season and doing an excellent job of it. McCuistion plays shortstop, behind the plate and is also a pitcher. Chamizo is the team?s second baseman and also pitches. Thanks to outstanding defense and solid hitting, McCuistion (.588 batting average) and Chamizo (.571) their MVP 9U club has been ranked second in Northern California with a 29-4 record. Chamizo is the leadoff batter and McCuistion bats cleanup. In a tournament held over Memorial Day weekend, the club outscored their opponents 88-8. It was their eighth tournament victory this season. In a prior tournament, the squad turned the tables on a couple teams that had beaten them earlier in the season, the Tracy Senators and Sierra Valley Storm. MVP downed the Storm 7-3 and came back the next day to take out the Senators in extra innings. That put MVP into the championship game and a rematch with Sierra Valley. McCuistion came through with a clutch hit in the contest to help the Citrus Heights? club claim the trophy by a 9-7 score. The team is managed by Luciano Isias and coached by Robie Wells, Jason McCuistion and Jason Chamizo. Got ?Em Baseball MVP 9U, Citrus Heights Players TJ McCuistion, Rocklin ?
