Rocklin man arrested after explosion

A Rocklin resident was arrested on the suspicion of arson and an unlawful explosion of a destructive device Sunday evening. The 25-year-old resident was booked into Placer County Jail. Approximately 5:05 p.m. Feb. 13, the Rocklin Police Department received several calls that an explosion had occurred in the 5200 block of Birdie Court. Once on scene, officers determined that a large explosion had occurred in the back yard of a residence and debris had caused a small fire in the font yard, which had already been extinguished by a neighbor. Numerous chemicals and powders were located at the residence associated with the explosion. A representative of the Roseville Fire Department Hazmat Team and a Roseville Police Department Explosives Officer responded and assisted the Rocklin police and fire departments. Ryan Linn was arrested on suspicion of arson and possession and unlawful explosion of a destructive device. ~Staff report
