The Rocklin Little League All Stars opened with a decisive win over Auburn in the 2012 District 11, Area 1 9-10 All Stars Tournament last week but just couldn?t keep the momentum going. Lincoln 13, Rocklin 4 ? July 6 It appeared it would be a seesaw battle as the two clubs exchanged the lead four times in two innings. But in the third stanza, Lincoln got the upper hand to pull out the win in what was Rocklin?s final game. Mason Mooney was the first to score for Rocklin in the top half of the first inning. In inning two, Callum Janis, Andrew Ketchum and Michael Alexander all scored to give Rocklin its final lead 4-3. Mooney doubled and Ketchum hit a triple in that inning. ?In Little League, when you get down to the 12 best in any single age group those kids are ready to play,? said Rocklin manager Jeff McClaughry complimenting all the All Stars. ?They come out to practice 20 minutes early, they want to stay late. At least for my guys, they just love being out here playing baseball. They were ready to go. It was a fun time and we enjoyed ourselves.? Miles Hughes opened on the mound for Rocklin with Tanner Gomes and Riley McClaughrey coming on in relief. Tri-City 11, Rocklin 1 ? July 5 It was the turning point for the boys in blue when they couldn?t keep pace with the eventual tournament champions. Rocklin?s Casey Miller had two hits in the contest and Grayson Barnes and Hughes each had one. Rocklin 19, Auburn 0 ? July 3 Rocklin looked ready to take their game straight to the championship after an impressive win over Auburn. Leading 1-0 going into the third inning, Rocklin exploded for a dozen runs and basically put the game away. Auburn couldn?t stem the blue tide as the game had to go the mandatory four innings before invoking the 10-run rule. Janis pitched three shutout innings and Hughes closed out the game in the fourth.
