Rocklin Pony 12U baseball take Gold Rush Tournament

The Rocklin Pony Youth Baseball Bronco (12-and-under) All Star Team captured the Gold Rush All Star Championship recently. In the first of several All Star Tournaments the12U team went 4-0 outpacing teams from Orangevale, North Highlands, Roseville, Citrus Heights and Loomis. Great pitching coupled with a stellar defense helped Rocklin hold their opponents to just eight total runs in four games. Besides great pitching and a strong defense, Rocklin had a deep lineup posting a tournament batting average of .576 in the tournament. With all three elements working together Rocklin outscored their opponents 59-8 ? 17-0, 14-3, 14-1 and 14-4. Pitchers Danny Riley, Hayden Erickson, Marc Klemin, Jaxson Haynes, Cole Hurtarte, Brandon Sterri and George Loureiro all pitched well. The top hitters were Hayden Erickson (.727), Sterri (.714), Hurtarte (.714), Haynes (.700), Riley (.667, one home run), Alex Schroeder (.667), Loureiro (.500) and Blake Caughey (.500). The Rocklin team now moves on to the Pony National District All Star Tournament.
