Rocklin Pony U12 Baseball captures second tournament

The Rocklin Bronco 12-and-under All Stars took their second tournament in a row going undefeated in the Pony National District All Star Championship. The club outscored their opponents 38-7 batting .548 as a team and committing only one error. The top hitters were Hayden Erickson .818, Danny Riley .692 (2 home runs, 12 runs batted in), Blake Caughey .583 (1 HR), Marc Klemin .500, Jaxson Haynes .571, Brandon Sterri .556, Cole Hurtarte .455, and Alex Schroeder .455. The outfield allowed only three extra base hits. Filling out the outfield were Sterri, Schroeder, Stephen Chavez, Haynes, Michael Hirsch, Hurtarte, and Caughey. The infield was equally as impressive with four double plays and allowed no runner to reach first on a bunt. Covering the infield were Klemin, Riley, Hayden Erickson and George Loureiro. The team stole 56 bases to keep the opposition off balance in every game. Top base thieves were Erickson (12), Schroeder (7), Caughey (7), Riley (6), Sterri (6), Hurtarte (5), and Loureiro (4). On the other end, catchers Caughey and Schroeder allowed only four stolen bases while throwing out nine. The pitching kudos go to Riley, Erickson, Klemin, Haynes, Hurtarte, Sterri and Loureiro. Pony Pinto 8U The Rocklin Pony League Baseball 8-and-under Pinto captured the Sacramento Section Championship and competed in the regional championship in San Pablo. They won their first two games by a 29-3 margin but lost 7-5 to Vacaville No.1 and 9-8 to Tara Hills No.1 in the semifinals. At Section Pinto defeated Roseville 12-4 and 13-2, Natomas 14-3 and Orangevale 17-2.
