After nine games, eight wins, and seven 10-run wins, the Rocklin Senior All Stars clinched their spot in the Western Regional Championship tournament. Rocklin’s senior team, managed by Steven Moller, and coached by Jon Murray and Tim Harrell, has already advanced through two tournaments this summer. They dominated at sections, winning the tournament in a four games. Continuing their success, the team traveled to Stockton to play in the division tournament, and won. Currently in Ontario, California, the all star team is preparing to play their next games. Making it to this level in all stars is a huge accomplishment, that many little league players do not get to experience. The Rocklin boys will be representing Northern California. Moller said, “Hitting has kept us going. We are an all around good team, winning by over ten runs in every game but two. Our pitching is also great.” Looking to the future, there are high hopes for this all star team. “The goal is to win to go to the [Little League] World Series in Maine. I’ve done seniors for the past four years and this team is the best. They work so well together, work so hard, and want it so bad. There is no doubt that they can win and go to the World Series,” said Moller. The boys of this team are a quality group. After losing their first game in the double elimination championship, the boys organized and gathered for breakfast at Mel’s Diner. “This was a turning point,” said Moller. “They are a great group of kids on and off the field.” Rocklin’s JR Robinson pitched an excellent championship game against Mission San Jose, shutting them down to secure the win and a berth in the Western Regionals. Tanner McVey and Griffin Harrell have also been key pitchers for the Rocklin team. Catcher, Ryan Alexander, has been a huge part of the team, working hard behind the plate to block pitches and make plays. Taylour Reidt also hit two important home runs in the division tournament. The team was scheduled to face Montana on Aug. 3, Hawaii on Aug. 6, and Nevada the following day. The top four teams during pool play will compete to win the Western Regionals and travel to the Little League World Series.
