Rocklin reaches Area 1 finals in Majors, 10-11s

Rocklin Little League’s Major all-stars lost a heartbreaker to Tri-City in the Area 1 title game on July 9 at Spring View Park in Rocklin. “We played an excellent game that had our guys hitting throughout the order. And we didn’t have any defensive errors,” Rocklin assistant coach Jon Murray said. “(Pitcher) Ryan Smith threw an excellent game and we battled them to the very end. The coaches are proud of the outstanding team effort.” Rocklin defeated Lincoln a night earlier to advance to the Tri-City game. Sam Curtis hit a solo homer in the win for Rocklin while Devon Murray (2-for-3, double, two RBI) and Jake Encallado (triple, two RBI) also stepped up offensively. Rocklin pitcher Ryan Shively gave up two runs and was just one out from a complete game. 10-11S Rocklin was defeated by Tri-City, 8-1, in the Area 1 title game on July 9. Rocklin defeated Auburn, 6-5, one night earlier to advance to the Tri-City game. Rocklin scored five runs in the final inning against Auburn and Kyle Bowlin ended the game with a walk-off base hit. Matt Morgan was solid on the mound for Rocklin in the victory. Rocklin went 2-2 in all-star competition, both wins coming against Auburn and both losses against Tri-City.
