Rocklin seniors get national honor

The College Board has recognized three Rocklin High seniors through the National Merit Scholarship program. Students were selected from among the 1.5 million PSAT test takers in October 2009. Kathy Hong, has been named National Merit Scholar. Hong is undecided on where she will attend college in the fall. She will enroll as an economics or business major and plans a career in international business. She is the daughter of George Hong and Jenny Chen of Rocklin. Garrett Mitchell was honored by National Merit Corporation as a National Hispanic Scholar. Mitchell will enroll at UC Davis as a Regents’ Scholar where he will study biological sciences. He plans a career in medicine. Mitchell’s parents are Gerald and Edara Mitchell of Rocklin. Rebecca Bills received National Merit Corporation’s National Achievement Award for 2011. She is still deciding on where she will enroll for fall 2011, but she will be a biology or psychology major and plans a career in occupational therapy. Bills is the daughter of David and Julie Bills of Rocklin.
