Rocklin seniors sign letter to play soccer at Jessup

Mazzoni, Kammerer take it to the next level

Rocklin High seniors Michael Mazzoni and Zach Kammerer, signed NAIA National Letters of Intent to play soccer for William Jessup University Friday. Mazzoni will play center midfield for the Warriors. He plans to major in business administration and pursue a career in business. He is very excited to move to the college level of play. “Jessup is close to home, a small school and has small class sizes,” Mazzoni explained. “It’s a very welcoming environment. Every teammate on the Jessup squad has welcomed me on and off the field.” Kammerer will play goalkeeper for the Jessup team next year. He will be a business major at WJU. Kammerer is looking forward to wearing the red, white and blue colors of the Warriors. “The team chemistry is very strong,” Kammerer said. “I think this will allow me to reach my full potential as a player.” Thunder Head Coach Grant Depue is enthusiastic about both of his players’ college level play. “I am excited these boys have the opportunity to play at the next level,” Depue said. “ I am always proud to see great kids succeed.” Rocklin High School Athletic Director, Davis Stewart, is proud of both Mazzoni and Kammerer achieving a college playing position. “All of us at Rocklin High appreciate all the hard work and dedication Zach and Michael have given RHS,” Stewart said. “We wish them well on their collegiate soccer careers.” Mazzoni is the son of Nello and Jo Mazzoni of Rocklin. Kammerer is the son of Jim and Crystal Kammerer also of Rocklin.
