Rocklin volleyball tops Grizzlies to share SFL lead

GRANITE BAY _ The Rocklin High School varsity girls volleyball team ended the week with a big 3-1 victory in the Granite Bay Dig Pink Game, Oct. 6. The Thunder won 25-17, 25-14, 15-25, 25-22. Katelyn Ivy led the team with 43 attacks and 14 kills. Senior Cailyn Prewitt added 29 attacks and 13 kills. Junior Kallie Elder and senior Kelsey Garvella both scored 10 points in the win. Garvella had 18 assists and Elder recorded 16 assists. Sierra Ueltzen led the team with 11 digs. Oct. 4 – The Thunder gave their fans a lot to cheer for as Rocklin swept Woodcreek 3-0. Rocklin won 25-19, 25-11, 25-16. Prewitt led Rocklin with 18 attacks and 10 kills. Erin Davis recorded 15 attacks and nine kills, while sophomore Kate Mitchell had 13 attacks and six kills in the victory. Garvella led the team with 12 points and 19 assists while Elder had 11 assists. Ivy scored 10 points and Ueltzen added five digs in the victory. The Thunder lost a tough one at home against Nevada Union 2-1. Oct. 5 – Rocklin’s game at a really tough Granite Bay High School did not go much better. The Thunder fell 4-0. Rocklin is currently 5-8-2 overall and 1-3-0 in the Sierra Foothill League.
