Rocklin's haunted history comes to lifeBy: Krissi Khokhobashvili, Placer Herald and Press Tribune editor
The Rocklin Historical Society hosted a dramatized historical tour of the Rocklin Cemetery Saturday and Sunday, featuring several "apparitional actors" playing the parts of prominent people long since passed.
Mistress of ceremonies Kathie Nippert led the way as Molly Moore, Rocklin's first schoolteacher, and along the way she was greeted by such figures as Marshal Sam Renaldi, portrayed by Historical Society President Skip Gebel. Renaldi died in 1914 following a duel with saloon owner U.S. Holmes, played last weekend by Marshall Smith.
Gene Johnson portrayed his grandfather, Anders Oscar Wickman, a quarry owner, town trustee and mayor for six years. Gay Morgan played her grandmother, Mrs. Morys-Matsen.
The tours raised funds funds to rebuild the 1894 firehouse. For more information, visit www.rocklinhistory.org.
