Rocklin High School's volleyball team entered the postseason with a record of 37-3 and without a loss in a best-of-five match. The Thunder added four victories in the Sac-Joaquin Section Division II playoffs, winning their first section championship since 1997. Victory No. 42 came Tuesday in the first round of the Northern California tournament. Rocklin rallied after losing the first game to defeat Redwood Larkspur in four games. Rocklin's run came to an end Saturday night with a three-game loss to St. Francis in Mountain View. The Thunder's first loss in a best-of-five match came at a bad time. The cupboard will not be bare in 2011 even though coach Dave Muscarella will lose seniors Olivia Lane, Jill Wirt, Lauren Orozco, Allison Judd and Ashleigh Reisig. Muscarella had seven juniors, a sophomore and two freshmen on his roster this season. Thatgroup includes fourplayers who played key roles in 2010 - juniors Erin Davis, Katelyn Ivy and Cailyn Prewitt, and sophomore Sara Sheehy.
