Roseville High School defeated Rocklin 53-30 in a Sierra Foothill League dual meet Wednesday night in Rocklin.

There were seven forfeits – four by Roseville – and the other seven matches ended in a pin or technical fall. The Tigers won six of seven matches that were contested and recorded five pins and a technical fall.

“Despite all the forfeits, it was actually an amazing performance by our guys,” Roseville coach Jeremiah Miller said. “We had some huge performances.”

One was by Jordan Maulino, called up from the JV team to fill in for 112-pounder Jon Maroon, who was out sick. In his varsity debut, Maulino put on what Miller described as “the best technical performance of the night.

“He chained together four moves to score an amazingly technical takedown,” Miller said.

Maulino then pinned Chris Whitecotton.

“It was an awesome varsity debut for Jordan,” Miller said.

Also, Logan Palmer of Roseville dominated and pinned Eddie Egan at 152 pounds in what Miller said was Palmer’s best performance this season.

Other Roseville winners were 125-pounder Dylan Runner with a pin over Olivia Seppini, 135-pounder Vince Clarke with a 15-0 technical fall over Andrew Tyson, 140-pounder Dylan Jankovich by pin over Shane Keefe and 160-pounder Austin Ash by pin over David Blanco.

Miller also singled out the performance of Mike Rineer in the JV match. Rineer moved up a weight class to 119 and pinned his much larger Rocklin opponent in the third period.

Granite Bay 50, Nevada Union 18 – The Grizzlies earned five pins and a technical fall in their victory over the visiting Miners. Winning by pin were Phil Vogley (135), Johnny Cooley (145), Adam Wagner (152), Eli Palmer (171) and Will Anderson (189).

Senior Adam Godbey registered a 15-0 technical fall at 160, and Granite Bay earned three close decisions: 103-pounder Chris Gallegos won 7-4, 125-pounder Andrew Broadland won 4-2, and 140-pounder Ian Mook won 7-5.
