Ruhkala Community Awards seeking nominees

Do you know someone who has benefited the Rocklin community throught their service? The city is asking for nominations for their 2011 Ruhkala Community Service Awards. The 2011 Ruhkala Community Service Awards will be presented at 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 5 at Finn Hall. To make a nomination, please submit a written statement explaining the contributions the person, business or group you are nominating have made to the city of Rocklin. The City Clerk, Barbara Ivanusich, will accept nominations until 5 p.m. Monday, March 14 at the Administrative Building, 3970 Rocklin Road. The Roy and Peggy Ruhkala Community Service Awards are named for two individuals who worked for the betterment of the Rocklin community for over 40 years. During those years they led or were involved in almost every community improvement activity. The city of Rocklin created the Roy and Peggy Ruhkala Community Service Awards to remember their efforts and to recognize recent community service efforts of others in the Rocklin community. There are three categories of awards: Individual or Couple: This annual award is made to an individual or couple who have made a significant contribution to the Rocklin Community through community service. Business, Group or Service Organization: This annual award is made to a business, group or service organization that has made a significant contribution to the Rocklin community through community service. Pioneer Award: This award is made at the discretion of the City Council to individuals who have, over an extended period of time, made significant contributions to the Rocklin community through community service.
