Eight high school students will be awarded scholarships as a result of this year’s Run Rocklin. Last month’s 5K, 12K and kid’s fun run generated approximately 1,800 people as well as an $8,000 donation to the Matt Redding Memorial Foundation, giving financial support to graduating seniors at Rocklin’s two high schools and Del Oro High School in Loomis. Going into its seventh year, Run Rocklin has raised thousands of dollars toward the foundation, more than $20,000, just within the last two years, Race Director Larry Osborne said. “We had a wonderful event, it was well attended,” Osborne said. “We held our own in participants.” This year’s race attracted people spanning from areas as far as San Francisco and Reno and as local as Rocklin, Roseville and Lincoln. Now, Osborne said, it’s time to begin planning for next year’s run, to be held April of 2010. “We’re looking to build upon this year’s success,” he said. “We’re going to start now to work toward next year to build an even bigger, better event.” For more information about Run Rocklin or to help with the planning of next year’s event, go to or contact Larry Osborne at 415-9991. ~ Lauren Weber
