There was not even a close second to Justin Sutter’s dominating long jump performance at the Sacramento State Track Classic Saturday. The Granite Bay senior sailed 22-feet, 5-1/2 inches, more than two feet further than his closest competitor, Natomas’ Ruben Richards in capturing the boys long jump event at Sac State. Rocklin’s Michael Bullard finished in 10th-place in the long jump. Sophomore John Park of Granite Bay jumped 41 feet to finish fifth in the triple jump. Sophomore James Kinloch of Granite Bay also delivered in Saturday’s field events, as his 154-foot, four-inch throw was 13-feet better than all comers as he captured the boys discus event. In the pole vault, Rocklin senior Cale Simmons bested his senior brother Robbie as the pair finished one-two at Sac State. Senior Jordon Alviso of Granite Bay finished fifth in the pole vault, and his Grizzly teammate, senior Connor Heykes, vaulted to a seventh-place result. On the track, Granite Bay senior David Hubbard delivered a fourth-place finish with a 41.73-second time in the boys 300-meter hurdles. Rocklin senior Josh Carter was seventh in 42.88 seconds. Carter’s 16.35-second time was also good for seventh in the 110-meter hurdles. Mack Lipps, an Oakmont senior, covered the 3,000-meter distance in 9:22.49 to claim sixth position, and Granite Bay senior Ryan Vilfer was seventh. Senior Sam O’Hair of Rocklin’s 4:09.08 in the 1,500-meter was strong enough for second place, and his Thunder teammate, senior Zac Zadrozna, crossed in sixth place. Alex Edwards, a junior from Rocklin, finished fifth in the 800 meters in a time of 2:02.78. Junior Devaunte Bolton was the top local finisher in the sprints, as his 22.91 put him sixth in the 200 meters and his 11.48 placed him ninth in the 100-meter.
