Jessica Pistole, William Jessup University's softball coach, released the Warriors 2010 playing schedule. William Jessup University will open up their inaugural season on the road at the Simpson University Big League Dreams Classic in Redding Feb. 12-13. The Warriors first-ever game will be against fourth-ranked NAIA powerhouse Point Loma Nazarene University. In addition, the Warriors will finish the classic against NAIA No. 1 ranked and 2009 NAIA softball champions from California Baptist University. The Warriors will continue on the road as they travel to play NCAA Division II competitor Academy of the Art University (Feb. 17), before traveling to participate in the Southern Oregon University Invitational (Feb. 25-27). The Warriors' first home game in school history will take place against California Pacific Conference rival Bethany University on March 5. Jessup will follow up with another conference game against Menlo College on March 6. Then, the Warriors will travel to take on the defending CALPAC champions from Holy Names University on March 17. Jessup will spend spring break on the road in Southern California as they tour the Golden State Athletic Conference schools. The trip will start out in Coast Mesa against Vanguard University (March 30). From there, Jessup will travel to 11th-ranked Concordia University-Irvine (March 31), Hope International University (April 1), and California Baptist University (April 2). Jessica Pistole is excited to see how the first year program fares with a challenging schedule. “I am excited to see where we stand against some of the best teams in the NAIA,” Pistole said. “We are building this program from the ground up and we will get a close-up view of what it takes to win at this level. It will be a valuable experience for our program as we build a foundation for the future.” Holy Names University is the preseason favorite to repeat as the California Pacific Conference Champions. Simpson University is picked to finish second. Added to the Cal Pac line-up in 2010 will be University of Great Falls (Mont.) which joins the five Cal Pac softball teams (Bethany University, Holy Names University, Menlo College, Simpson University and William Jessup University) for a competitive grouping that will send a contender to the 2010 NAIA National Softball Championships in Decatur, Ala. on May 20-26.
