Scramble for Scholars set for May 7; benefits Rocklin high school seniors

-A +A
The Rocklin Area Chamber of Commerce and Randy Peters Catering & Event Planning are once again getting ready for Scramble for Scholars golf tournament. This annual event benefits graduating seniors from Rocklin, Victory and Whitney high schools by awarding educational scholarships to deserving students. Since its inception, more than $100,000 in scholarship funds have been raised. The Scramble will be held May 7, but a couple of Chamber members have organized “fun-raising” events prior to the tournament. On May 3, Primo Pizza Burger & Brew will donate 20 percent of the proceeds from dine in or take out orders at their restaurant (excluding alcohol and tips). Simply visit them at 2600 Sunset Blvd. in Rocklin, mention “Scramble for Scholars” and they’ll take care of the rest. Get your car washed May 4 at Five Star Auto Care, 6818 Five Star Blvd. in Rocklin, and they’ll donate 10 percent of the proceeds from every professional hand car wash purchased to Scramble for Scholars. Golfers participating in the tournament will have a chance to win a 2010 Porsche Boxster or a 2010 Land Rover LR2. Niello Porsche and Land Rover Rocklin have donated two vehicles as prizes for the Hole in One contest they’re sponsoring. Scramble for Scholars returns to Whitney Oaks Golf Club May 7. Registration begins at noon with networking and boxed lunches, followed by a 1 p.m. shotgun start. For more information contact the Rocklin Chamber at 624-2548 or ~ Staff report
