Take Note Troupe, the award-winning community youth theater group in Auburn, will present Shakespeare’s “As You Like It,” at three Placer County locations beginning May 28. One of Shakespeare’s most loved romantic comedies, “As You Like it” showcases muddled identities and mischief as romance blossoms in this twisted tale of outcasts, dukes and their daughters, tyrannical brothers, loyal cousins and calamity-filled encounters in the famous Forest of Arden. A public show at the Auburn State Theater in Auburn opens the series on Saturday, May 28, with performances at 3 and 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $5 for students and $10 for adults. These initial presentations will benefit the Auburn State Theater. There will be a free public show at 6 p.m. on Saturday, June 4, with an outdoor performance at the Auburn Library Garden Theater. Three other free performances will be staged at Royer Park in Roseville at 7 p.m. on June 9, 10 and 11. Attendees are urged to arrive early and bring a blanket, a low-back beach chair and a picnic. Take Note Troupe is an all-volunteer, community theater group made up of students from all over Placer County. They have been bringing family-friendly, high-quality Shakespeare to stages in Auburn and Roseville for six years. Producer Jean Hilton is proud of the work of her students. “Come join the family-friendly fun as all things get sorted in true Shakespearean order,” she said. Hilton noted the group’s success is based on “establishing an environment that allows talent to flourish and teaches troupe members to use their stage work to bring fun and happiness to the community.” For more information or to purchase tickets to the benefit shows, visit ~ Staff report
