Seniors First, a non-profit agency in Placer County, provides a Senior Nutrition Program to the citizens of southern Placer County. The café sites are designed for seniors who are still driving and would like a hot nutritious meal at lunchtime Monday through Friday. To qualify you must be a minimum of 60 years old. The meals are donation based and the suggested donation is $3 a meal. However, no one is turned away if they cannot afford the price. Guests of a senior may eat for a fee of $5. Menus provide a wide variety of entrees and provide 1/3 the nutritional daily requirements. The café sites are located in the following places: Roseville-Maidu, Roseville-Manzanita, Roseville-Sutter Terrace and Roseville-Woodcreek Terrace, Auburn-Valley Oaks, Auburn DeWitt, Rocklin-Rolling Oaks, Lincoln and Colfax. Reservations for meals need to be made 24 hours in advance and can be done by calling (530) 889-9500, ext. 210 or (800) 878-9222, ext. 210. Please include your name and telephone number and the site where you would like to eat. Seniors First also provides meals through the Meals on Wheels Program. Meals on Wheels are designed for seniors 60-plus years of age and homebound. Meals on Wheels clients go through a phone assessment and a home assessment before being approved for the program.
