As September rolls around, it is a new season of sports at Sierra College. Women's cross country, football, women's golf, women's soccer, volleyball, and water polo are all gearing up for the season. The cross country team will hold their first home invitational Saturday and the women’s soccer squad (1-1 on the season) played its home opener Friday against College of the Sequoias. Wolverine football will open its season with three road games against Diablo Valley College (Saturday), Sacramento City College and City College of San Francisco. The home opener is Sat., Sept. 26 against American River College. The women's golfers will host the Big 8 Conference tournament No. 3 on Sept. 17 at Morgan Creek in Roseville. Women's volleyball started the season 2-0, sweeping San Jose City 25-15, 25-14, 25-8. The Wolverines earned their second win in another decisive three-game performance against San Francisco, 25-21, 25-18, 25-17. Men's water polo starts Thursday against UC Davis at home. The contest will begin at 3:30. The women's team alumni game is Saturday at 10 a.m., and it gets the season going Thursday at Cypress College.
