Roseville’s Westfield Galleria will be host site for the Rocklin Kiwanis Club’s second annual St. Patrick’s five-day Community Festival held March 10-14. Emphasizing family entertainment, the main attraction will be 14 carnival rides by Wold Amusements. A food and beer garden, plus musical entertainment will be held on the Galleria parking lot near the corner of Roseville Parkway and Galleria Boulevard. Festival events are being staged in the same area where World Team Tennis action has taken place the last few years. Other than tennis, this is the first major outside activity to be held at the Galleria location. Saturday will be the big day for the festival. There will be business vendor booths, an on-site shredding service by Red Dog Shred, and a disposal station for old electronics equipment hosted by Erase Your E-Waste. Service for shredding and disposing of electronic equipment will be free, but donations are encouraged, that will go to Kiwanis. Saturday’s entertainment on stage will be non-stop starting at 11 a.m. The festival will operate from 4-10 p.m. Wednesday through Friday, and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Donations from more than 25 organizations make the event economically feasible for Kiwanis, according to chairperson Nick Kirk. The major sponsors are Nationwide Insurance, Coca Cola Bottling Company of Sacramento, Umpqua Bank and Wells Fargo Bank. Last year’s first event featured a parade, a carnival and entertainment in Rocklin. The parade idea was abandoned this year because of prohibitive costs. “We felt we could put on a better show without a parade,” Kirk said. “And getting the Westfield Galleria at Roseville to host us at the finest shopping center in this region puts our revised event in a heavily trafficked area.” ~ Staff report
