The Rocklin City Council voted unanimously on Nov. 25 to co-sponsor Rocklin’s St. Patrick's Day Festival for 2009 joining with The Kiwanis Club of Rocklin. The club and city plan to hold this festival annually. The event will be held over the course of four days from March 12-15, 2009. It includes festival rides set up by Butler Amusements, Inc. along with a variety of concessions, local vendors and live entertainment, held in the shopping center off of Lonetree Boulevard at Redwood Drive near RC Wiley. The parade will be held on Saturday, March 14. “This event is something our members have been working on for months. It is great to finally be able to let the fine people of Rocklin in on this exciting project of ours,” said Jim Walsh, president of The Kiwanis Club of Rocklin. “I cannot tell you how proud I am of the work that has been done so far. This festival will be a first-class weekend.” Event proceeds will go primarily to help the Rocklin Unified School District’s children, schools and PTCs. In addition, donations will be made to pre-identified local, not-for-profit organizations helping with event staffing, coordination and infrastructure.
