Dog fighting is a felony for good reason, so why is pitting packs of dogs against wildlife allowed?
Senate Bill 1221, to ban the use of dogs to chase down bears and bobcats, has been amended to allow for certain exemptions, such as research and protection of ranch animals.
There is nothing ethical or sporting about packs of dogs chasing terrified bears and bobcats through the woods, sometimes for miles, until the wildlife escapes up a tree only to be shot at point-blank range.
The vast majority of Californians oppose this, and two-thirds of the states already have similar bans in place.
Please contact Senators Gaines and LaMalfa immediately and ask them to change their “no” vote to a “yes” on the amended SB 1221.
