Students spell their way to wins

-A +A
Ten students from the Rocklin Unified School District were winners in the Placer County Office of Education Oral Spelling Bee held on March 29 in Auburn. These students competed against 38 other stellar spellers from six other Placer County school districts. Steven Abramowitz, a sixth grader from Rocklin Elementary School and Jordan Fox, an eighth grader from Spring View Middle School, each scored first in their grade levels. In the overall Grand Finals, featuring the top spellers from each grade level, county-wide, Abramowitz placed second and Fox placed third. Both students will be continuing on to the State Level Spelling Bee. On April 16, Abramowitz will compete in the Elementary Division; on May 14 Fox will participate in the Junior High division. This level of competition is nothing new to these great spellers: both students have participated at the state level previously.
