(Intelligent, Smart, Awesome, People) came out on top in both the District One Regional tournament held March 3 in Granite Bay and the California State tournament held March 31 in Clovis. Third- and fourth-grade Team I.S.A.P. members are Lex Dillon, Anjali Suthahar, Jessica Benson Brandon Parenti, Nathan Marquardt, Robby Jones and Gabrielle Daniel. Their team managers are Mary Marquardt and Mary McGown. “I like Destination ImagiNation because you get to share your imagination,” said 8-year-old Jessica Benson. “It teaches you how to be friends with other people and how to work together.” The next stop for these champions will be Knoxville, TN, where they will join the best of the best to match wits, imaginations and creativity in a quest to become world champions in the DestiNation Imagination Global Tournament from May 23 through May 26. More than 16,000 people will gather at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville to watch teams from more than 30 countries compete. Destination ImagiNation is a school program that promotes creativity, problem-solving and team work among students from kindergarten through college. Every year, more than 125,000 students in over 30 countries participate in this program. In the “Coming Attractions” challenge Team I.S.A.P. was tasked to present a mock movie trailer featuring characters from at least two nations, a cinematic special effect and original soundtrack music to accompany their live-action presentation. Rocklin’s Team I.S.A.P. presented “Attack of the Killer Gummy Bears,” in which an evil wizard creates giant gummy bears who menace Paris. They then asked if Spanish travelers would be able to work with a French scientist to save Paris. Will our heroine ever be able to go shopping? Team members and their parents have launched a fundraising campaign to raise $16,000 for their trip to the global competition.
