School tours of the Rocklin Historical Museum have been offered by the Rocklin Historical Society for several years as a public service. This year, eight of the district’s elementary schools have shepherded their third-graders to the museum for tours. Often pupils and students wear their own historic apparel for this event. Bus trips may cost the schools as much as $200. Through the generous support of Rocklin Kiwanis and others, assistance has been offered to schools. The tours are conducted by long-time resident and former teacher Gay Morgan with the assistance of Susan Brooking, Bill and Laura Wood, Roy Ruhkala and Ruth Williams. We wish to thank them and the schools which have visited with such enthusiasm and donated to our group. The best part of this project is that the visiting third-grade kids often bring their parents back and serve as very credible tour-guide docents. Tours are available for groups of 10 or more in addition to regular hours from 1-4 p.m. Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday. Jim Carlson, president, Rocklin Historical Society
