Theft victim uses GPS to locate suspect

A woman’s stolen iPhone was recovered with the help of GPS technology and the Internet. The afternoon of Sept. 25, a woman realized her iPhone had been stolen after a magazine solicitor had approached her residence in the 5200 block of Paragon Street in Rocklin. Using available iPhone GPS technology and the Internet, the victim’s fiancée tracked the subject to the Home Depot on Fairway Drive in Roseville. After identification by the victim, Rocklin Police arrested 25-year-old Anthony Joshua Lane of Arvada, Colo. for theft of the cell phone. Lane was arrested for suspicion of burglary, theft and possession of stolen property. During the investigation, the suspect was in possession of a stolen wallet. Rocklin officers discovered that the wallet was stolen from a wedding at the Sunset Center in Rocklin, which is blocks from Paragon Street. The victim of the wallet theft didn’t realize her wallet had been stolen until she was informed by Rocklin Police that it had been found. Lane is in Placer County Jail with a $10,000 bail. ~Staff report
