Thieves take groundskeeping equipment

-A +A
For the second year in a row, thieves have stolen equipment used to maintain the Tri-City Little League field on Third Street. Sometime between March 31 and April 4, unknown individuals broke into the storage sheds at the ball field and took an orange rider mower and a self-propelled reel mower, reported Kris Hardy, who oversees the maintenance of the fields for the non-profit organization. Estimated loss is $2,500. “Last year, someone stole two push mowers and a commercial edger,” he said. “Last year’s loss was $1,200.” One of the pieces of equipment taken last week had just been purchased to replace the one stolen last year. “Instead of spending money on the kids, we’ll be spending money on replacing equipment,” he said. “We’re a non-profit and our money comes through fundraisers and registration fees. They’re stealing from our kids.” Anyone who may have information about the theft is asked to call the Rocklin Police Department.
