Placer Ume Takio, taiko dan drummers from Placer Buddhist Church, will perform during Auburn Family Night Out starting at 5 p.m. in downtown Auburn. Passport stroll will take participants from giant chalk contest for all ages to music and dance performances, face painting, a safety corner, information booths and food.

“Homeland,” a patriotic concert performed by A Gift of the Heart Orchestra and singers with Placer Pops Chorale, will be presented at 7 p.m. in the Auburn Library Garden Theatre, 350 Nevada St. Blankets, lawn chairs and picnics welcome.

Celebrate America, a musical extravaganza, opens with pre-show entertainment at 4:30 p.m. at Twin Oaks Park, 5500 Park Ave. Show, featuring American Idol finalist Danny Gokey, starts at 8 p.m. and culminates with aerial fireworks extravaganza. Hosted by Destiny Christian Church, admission is free.
