Thunder boys finish season hosting Nevada Union

Miners, Grizzlies get wins

The Rocklin High boys basketball team closed out their league season hosting Nevada Union last Friday. The Thunder just couldn’t put up the points necessary to keep up with the playoff bound Miners. Nevada Union was seeded No. 15 in Division I. Rocklin senior Rocky Kailany led the scoring for the boys in blue with six points. Junior Spencer Gregg had five. The Thunder trailed the visitors 26-6 at the end of the first half. Although the home team loosened up in the second half they were too deep of a hole to climb out. The Miners wrapped up their regular season with a 58-23 victory. Nevada Union’s Ian Davis led all scorers with 15 points. Rocklin said its goodbyes to seniors Kailany, Matt Garrison, Jesse Smith, and Steven Valverde. Granite Bay _ Wednesday, Rocklin put up a stronger game but still fell to the Grizzlies 58-48. Trailing 36-23 after two quarters of play, the Thunder began to turn around things in the second half and out scored Granite Bay over the next two quarters 25-22. Drew Ardissone scored 14 for Rocklin, Gregg added a dozen. Rocklin ended the season 1-9 in the Sierra Foothill League and 4-23 overall. Granite Bay’s Scott Romuk also scored 14.
