Thunder face Christian Brothers today in girls soccer playoffs

Thunder down McClatchy in first round - face Christian Brothers today in girls soccer Rocklin High’s varsity girls soccer team won 2-0 at McClatchy in the first round of the Sac-Joaquin Section, Division II playoffs on May 12. The Thunder (11-4-6 overall) play in the semifinals at Folsom High at 6 p.m. today against Christian Brothers (Sierra Valley Conference champion, 15-5-3 overall), with the winner advancing to the DII final at Folsom on Saturday. The time of this championship match is yet to be determined. If Rocklin reaches the finals its opponent will be familiar as it will face either Granite Bay or Roseville (both from the Sierra Foothill League). Roseville (13-3-4 overall) won the SFL, Rocklin is the No. 2 seed and Granite Bay (10-8-4 overall) is the No. 3 seed from the league. Dana Greenwood and Shannon Garvella each scored a second-half goal for the Thunder in the victory over McClatchy (15-8 overall). McClatchy won the Metro League with a record of 9-1.
