RENO, Nev. _ The Silver State’s no-shot-clock, 10-second cross-court rule didn’t bother Rocklin’s girls basketball team nearly as much as the Thunder bothered Nevada’s clubs.

Rocklin wrapped up the three-day Silver Slam Tournament by defeating Foothill of Henderson, Nev. 79-69. The 9-4 Falcons gave the visitors their best game of the event but didn’t really threaten until the final period.

Four Thunder players scored in double figures led by Kelsey Summers’ 19. Ten athletes scored in all as the girls in blue rained in a dozen 3-pointers.

“We played some really good defense,” Rocklin head coach Rob Ferraro said in the beginning but he didn’t leave out the offense. “We created a lot of turnovers with our pressure, then we converted and finished.”

Ferraro said his club’s confidence grew in their ability to score both on the perimeter and inside.

Game 2

Eldorado probably had second thoughts about making their trip from Las Vegas after getting pounded 70-19 by Rocklin. The Sundevils failed to score double digits in any quarter.

The Thunder scored only six in the final stanza but a 50-point lead was more than enough to carry them through.

Lydia Summers led with 18 points and Jaimie Curtis added 14. This time, 11 Rocklin players scored. The club pulled down 57 rebounds in the contest.

Ferraro said Curtis was used to help break Eldorado’s press and the senior worked it to perfection.

Game 1

The Thunder served notice California basketball was going to be tough to beat by opening with an 87-38 decision over host Desert Pines.

Rocklin was never really threatened by any team at the Silver Slam. Kelsey Summers led with 21 points and Lydia Summers added another 19.

Besides that duo, the scoring was as follows: Rachel Agarpo (8), Jade Casey (8), Tori Adame (6), Kaitlyn Solomon (6), Lauren Clark (4), Sydney Middleton (4), Curtis (4), Arin Music (2), Shannon Garvella (2), Presley Salazar (2) and Ariana Hildan (1).
