Thunder volleyball runners up at Christian Brothers tournament

Rocklin drops league opener to Del Oro

The end of a really long day did not end as planned for the Rocklin High varsity girls volleyball team. The Thunder lost 2-1 to St. Francis High School in the championship game of the Christian Brothers Great Eight Invitational, Oct. 1. Rocklin defeated Christian Brothers, Oak Ridge, Bishop O’Dowd and Campolindo high schools to reach the final round. Sept. 29 – The Thunder defeated Roseville on the road 3-1. Rocklin won 17-25, 25-21, 25-13, 25-23. Senior Caylin Prewitt led the Thunder with 41 attacks and 17 kills. Katelyn Ivy scored 12 points and had 14 digs. Sept. 27 – The week did not start as planned for Rocklin as well as the Thunder lost its Sierra Foothill League opener, 3-0, to Del Oro 25-22, 25-21, 26-24. Ivy led the Thunder with 44 attacks and 12 kills. She also scored six points for Rocklin. Senior Sierra Ueltzen recorded 16 digs in contest. Sierra Foothill Standings 1. Granite Bay 2-0-0 2. Woodcreek 0-2-0 Soccer Sept. 30 – The Rocklin’s varsity boys soccer team was shut out in its only match this week 3-0 at home against Woodcreek High School. Roseville 0-2-0 6. Del Oro 0-3-0 Water Polo Sept. 29 - Boys varsity lost to Bear River 15-4. Jordan Bothe scored twice, while Spencer London and Nathaniel Danielson also added a goal in the match. Girls varsity lost to Bear River 11-6. Aelish Guinn and Lydia Summers both scored three goals, respectively. Boys JV lost 14-1 against Bear River. Girls JV defeated Bear River 14-8. Sept. 27 - Boys varsity lost 10-8 against Roseville. Mason Pugh scored three goals; Chris Baimas scored two goals, Keegan Dre Darby, Tim Wahl and Danielson all scored a goal, as well. Girls varsity defeated Roseville 18-2. Guinn scored seven times, Summers had four goals, Kaylun Brest and Alicia Phyllips both had two goals, while Mariah Sreinmetz, Niki Sanchez and Ally Bronte all scored one goal. Boys JV defeated Roseville 8-5. Girls JV defeated Roseville 8-3.
