After exploding to score 13 unanswered runs in Tuesday's win over league-leading Rocklin, the Roseville High baseball team got an answer from the Thunder. Rocklin scored six runs in the top of the second inning and two more in the third to build an 8-1 advantage on the way to a 10-5 win. Roseville starter Matt Maher allowed eight runs on just six hits in 2 1/3 innings, but it was the seven walks that really did him in. All told, the Tigers issued nine free passes in the contest. Blake Fassler went the distance on the bump for the Thunder, allowing five runs on seven hits. Kyle Garvella had two hits for Rocklin, while six other players had one hits a piece. Garvella also drove in three runs. Roseville was led by Matt Hack's three hits, while Anthony Roberts had a home run for the Tigers. The Thunder (11-4 in the SFL, 18-6 overall) face Oakmont in a three-game series next week, needing to win all three games to earn a league co-championship with Granite Bay, which has already finished its season at 14-4 in the SFL. The Tigers (7-8, 12-12) face a three-game series with Del Oro (7-8, 11-10-1) with the survivor heading to the playoffs as the SFL No. 3 team, while the loser will be left out. That set gets started in Loomis at 4 p.m. Monday.
