The tornado warning in effect throughout the evening in Placer County has expired, according to the National Weather Service.
The warning was for western Placer County (including the city of Auburn), southwestern Nevada County (including the city of Grass Valley) and northwestern El Dorado County. It was in effect until 7:15 p.m.
At 6:26 p.m. the NWS Doppler Radar indicated a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado near North Auburn, moving northeast at 25 mph. Other locations in the warning included Cool, Lake of the Pines, Applegate, Alta Sierra, Colfax, Weimar and Foresthill.
Rocklin's forecast for Tuesday calls for probably showers, with thunderstorms possible after 11 a.m. High temperature near 58 degrees. South-southeast winds at about 10 mph are expected. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent. Showers are likely in the evening, mainly after 11 p.m. Night will be mostly cloudy, with a low around 46. The chance of precipitation Tuesday evening is 60 percent.
