Ron Domingo refused to let his players hang their heads Wednesday night. The Tri-City Little League 11- and 12-year-olds reached the end of the road, and their manager could not have been prouder. Tri-City was eliminated from the Northern California Division 2 tournament with a 12-6 loss to Hollister in Vacaville. Tri-City lost twice to Hollister in five days and settled for third place. “The kids have been phenomenal,” Domingo said. “There are 450 teams in Northern California and we were one of six teams to make it here. We finished third out of 450 teams.” Tri-City took a 1-0 lead in the second inning when Shawn Minck led off with a double and scored one out later on Kyle Benoit’s double. The advantage did not last long for Domingo’s team, however. Hollister scored eight runs in the third, capitalizing on pitcher A.J. Sauer’s lack of control and Tri-City’s sloppy fielding. “We didn’t have our A game,” Domingo said. Minck homered in the fourth for Tri-City, and Danny Larson cracked a two-run double in the sixth.
